Reanimating stories from the bottom of the lake ... brings our unique creative approach to water heritage through conversation, music, poetry and dance highlighting the cultural, ecological and mythological significance of Lickeen Lake.

Ode to Lickeen Lake is a lamentation for the Arctic char and a speculation of the thermocline and micro-changes in our local water environment.

Presented by Creevagh Art and Archaeology Collective; Maria Kerin and Rachel Sweeney (curators), with Danny Burke and Déirdre Carr.

Inviting diverse communities to come together, Ode to Lickeen Lake responds to the urgency of our present times through a shared platform for conversations about the future with reference to the past.  

Ode to Lickeen Lake schools workshops: as part of their community outreach, Maria and Rachel developed a series of covid friendly interactions engaging with  Ennistymon Secondary school and Cloona Primary in North Clare.

Stories from the Bottom of the Lake is a three-day translocal symposium around our water and time, hosted by Creevagh arts and archaeology collective, part-funded by LAWPRO (Local Authorities Water Program) and Creative Ireland, and curated by The Floating Village, dance artists Maria Kerin and Rachel Sweeney

Maria and Rachel invite a panel of academics and practitioners to respond to concepts around water and temporality, in particular linking different multidisciplinary research methods such as experimental heritage, eco-somatics, durational arts. We invite our speakers to expand an inquiry across their diverse methods as a means to test out, redefine and rearticulate our living relationships with water through the urgency of the times we live in.
